Martin left academia after obtaining multiple degrees in Parapsychology, and Social Sciences specializing in the occult only to find the job market in those fields rather slim, so he did the smart thing by applying to Ghostbusters NJ.  Martin has a fascination and a remarkable knowledge of the occult experiments performed in Nazi Germany during the 3rd Reich, which would have come in handy when we were fighting Dr. Martin Cythraul’s attempt at resurrecting the ghost of Hitler.

speaking of Cythraul, Andrew thinks that Dr. Ingenbrandt and Dr. Cythraul look similar, but we don’t see it. Dr. Cythraul’s beard is way different.
